Dear Friends,

Founding Trustees Liz and Tom Brackett of the Brackett Refugee Education Fund were honored May 17 as part of Colgate University's Commencement of 2015. Deborah Knuth-Klenck Professor of English and a close friend of the Bracketts presented the couple and Colgate president Jeffrey Herbst awarded the degrees with a citation which read in part,

"You made the Karen children a priority in your lives, giving them the gift of education through the Brackett Refugee Education Fund, which you founded. Today, more than 200 university students at college in Burma and India have you to thank for their academic opportunities.

In recognition of your generosity of spirit and enthusiasm for learning, I am pleased to award you the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa."

At the Signing
The weekend started with Tom and Liz at the signing of a book he wrote called "Do-It-Yourself Foreign Aid: One Couple's Mission to Save the World." Many old friends stopped by to purchase a copy and some were surprised that Tom insisted on giving them a copy. In fact as many were given away as were sold.
With Tom Bartlett

We were delighted to see our old friends Tom and Molly Bartlett both at the book signing and at commencement the following day. As fortune would have it their grandson was graduating from Colgate that day.

Best Wishes to all,

Tom Brackett
